gigCMO appoints leading change agent and experienced CMT to team of fractional CMOs


gigCMO has appointed former Pep Boys CMO, Michael J. O’Hara, as a fractional CMO, an experienced Chief Marketing Technologist (CMT) and a leader in their US office.

Michael is an entrepreneur as well as a seasoned CEO and COO, with extensive experience as a C-level technology executive, consultant and change agent. His understanding of businesses at all stages of growth and development, has seen him raise venture capital and complete acquisitions of technology and media companies, he has also helped to successfully engineer exits for five companies.

Michael has both re-engineered and started numerous companies, with international experience across four continents and special knowledge of Israeli start-ups he has had particular focuses on sales, technology, M&A and business development. He has held key senior management positions, including CMO, for the Pep Boys and Silo, Inc., was Chief Operating Officer for The Princeton Packet, and was President/Publisher of the New York Press.

Now an instrumental member of the team establishing gigCMO in the US, his specific expertise includes consulting for the technology and capital markets, and advising online content websites as well as newspapers, radio, television, retail, CPG and pharmaceutical clients. He was the founder and President of Tomato Media, a specialty media company and division of Advance Communications, owner of Condé Nast, built one of the first successful web-to-print companies and has served as CEO of technology firms including 3DPipeline, XMPie, 3Path, and

At a time when marketing is rapidly becoming one of the most technology-dependent functions in business, Michael also has experience in the new executive function emerging at the centre of the transformation: the chief marketing technologist. His experience and proven track record show him to have the ideal skillsets; part strategist, part creative director, part technology leader, and part teacher to meet the requirements of the contemporary and future market.

As testament to his knowledge and tangible skills, as President and Managing Director of a division of EducationDynamics, a leading education service provider, he was responsible for growing revenue in four operating groups within the company and grew his division from an operating loss in 2008 to a 60% operating profit in 2011.

Prior to joining gigCMO, Michael held the role of Chief Executive Officer at TechnologyAdvice, a Nashville-based technology lead generation company specialising in offering a full spectrum of B2B leads to Fortune 500 companies.
